Learn How to Be a Winning Poker Player

Learning poker online has never been so easy. Since the first poker rooms started to really come into play in the late 90's the poker world boomed. That is, right until the US government couldn't make up their minds on whether they should make it illegal or not. It slowed down the world of online poker but people who wanted to play found a way legal or not. The poker community today is thriving to say the least. A multi billion dollar industry, it has no spawned celebrities in the same way any sport would. With the popularity and strong communities gives birth to plenty of poker experts willing to give and share advice on their hints, tips and strategies on how to play poker online.

If you are a complete beginner it's probably not the best idea to start playing with real cash, unless it's a very small amount that you are happy to part with should it all go belly up. Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned pro there is always room to learn new techniques and improve your poker skills at any point possible. The most obvious way to go about this is to read, poker has been around centuries even if online poker is just a baby. The amount of literature and new literature could if it was all on paper be a small rainforest the volume is that much. So we are blessed if learning is our aim.

If you're not willing to part with your cash to fork out on books (let's face it most of us aren't,) then try the countless resources out there with free articles on hints, tips and strategies for online poker. I'd also suggest that as a beginner instead of forking out your own cash you either play for play chips (which can be tedious) or get yourself a deal where you don't have to deposit at all. There are plenty of poker rooms willing to give you around $50 just for signing up, use this as an opportunity to learn poker with whilst reading up on basic strategy.

You can find links for both in my resource box.

Mobile Casino Alternative

Mobile Casino Alternative
After the appearance of the first online casinos about ten years ago, the players have been waiting for development of new software to be able to download more advanced versions for mobile phones, smartphones and communicators. That happened not so long ago, and now mobile casino industry is gaining the momentum.
While mobile casino games choice is quite limited, the active development of this area gives hope for a significant expansion of the range and quality of the software specifically for mobile phones in the near future.
However, right now, fans of wagering online can play traditional casino games (roulette, blackjack, videpoker, keno, baccarat, and various slots) and of course the latest trend is mobile poker. To do that all you need is to find mobile casinos online or via your mobile phone connection. All of them are offering to choose your favourite game and to download their software. The hand set should be one of the latest models otherwise you would have difficulties with the games. In case of any problems the casino tech support would promptly provide you with the necessary assistance. You can use your computer as an intermediary and with your PC help to download necessary files, but still would need the mobile phone to get the download link.
After downloading, register at the casino for the access to your account. Once registered, it would be easier to download full range of the games.
But never hurry to deposit your money into the account. Remember, the most important feature of the mobile casinos is that there is a free playing mode. Newbiews can play for free to get use to the software. Besides it is a great tool to improve your gambling skills especially in those games requiring good knowledge of mathematics and the games strategies. That is why mobile poker players or blackjack fans would definitely consider getting the software.
A few years ago this type of online entertainment was not as popular as it is now. Problems with the internet connection, mobile network coverage failure when crossing the "dead spots" hurt the players. Thanks to the software developers the emphasis was definitely put on the strong, sustainable network connection. Online players as well as mobile ones are connected to the actual casino just after entering their accounts. That is amazing as from now on there is no difference if you play online or via your mobile phone.
It is worth to mention that the casinos operators launching the new product are desperate to get new customers. Their strategy to entice new players will never change. The offer is quite persuasive; free casino bonus money for wagering. But do not be caught in the mouse trap getting this free cheese. First of all it is necessary to read carefully the house terms and conditions for wagering the rewarded casino bonus chips. Some of the games could be restricted, some could have very big wagering requirement. Only if you have the necessary gambling skills for particular games and acceptable wagering requirements do download the software and beat the casino.

What Countries Allow Online Gambling

The world of internet gambling is strictly regulated and it is important to first be aware of what countries allow online gambling before you start. Online casinos have experienced a steady growth in popularity over the past few years, with more and more people registering with sites in order to enjoy their favorite casino games.
You will find a few countries around the world where this practice is legal and many of them house servers that are accessible to people residing in countries where it is not. This means that if you live in a country where gambling online is banned, you might still be able to play by dialing into a server that is hosted outside of your country.
The United States of America
It is true that more and more countries are realizing the benefits of legalizing internet gambling and are actively taking steps toward this. However, the law governing the prohibition of internet gambling in America is somewhat unclear. The estimate is that approximately 70 percent of US citizens make up the internet gambling population and suffer little consequences because of it. It may be that the situation is difficult to monitor and regulate because gambling online happens in the privacy of your home and not in the public eye.
Online Gambling Around The World
You can do a simple search online to find out what countries allow online gambling. The list below reflects a few of these where online gambling is legal:
Australia
Belgium
Canada
France
Germany
Gibraltar
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Liechtenstein
Macau
Malta
New Zealand
Panama
Philippines
Poland
Russia
Scandinavia
Singapore
Spain
Switzerland
Countries like Argentina, Mexico and a few Asian countries have all started the process of legalizing online gambling.
Enforcement and Regulation
Although the internet gambling industry is heavily regulated, experts admit that it is difficult to monitor because of its fairly anonymous nature. This poses a problem where online gambling is banned because it is virtually impossible to pinpoint players in the country who sign on from their homes. This begs the argument that why ban online gambling at all if it is so easily accessible and difficult to monitor? Regulation remains easier than prohibition in most cases and the trend seems to show that more and more countries are realizing this.
It is best to properly investigate what countries allow online gambling to ensure that you are on the right side of the law when enjoying your favorite casino games. This will also guarantee that you get to keep whatever winnings you make online.

Opening Up the Online Gambling Industry in France

The online gambling scene in France is on the verge of changing irrevocably with the imminent enactment of a new legislation inspired in part from the successful example of the UK and other European countries. It remains a vastly untapped potential for online gambling operators. The liberalisation of the market, which up until now has been controlled by the monopoly of the state-owned Française des Jeux, is under intense scrutiny from the European Commission while at the same time preparing itself for the fast-paced environment of the online gambling world in which operators are already active offering an ever-growing choice of games of chance to the willing French consumer.
In this article I will attempt to cover the key points of the emerging French Gaming Law (which remains to be finalised) by looking at its viability with regards to tax and licensing regimes and how it will affect foreign entrants to the market.
In the interest of the consumers, an essential element of this legislation aims to prevent addiction by fixing limits on wagers and winnings that may be placed or received by punters. With this in mind, operators will be obliged to include warnings about underage playing and the potential risks of excessive gambling.
The opening of the market will encompass horse race and sports betting and shared games of skill, involving the ability of the player to improve his or her chances by adopting a certain strategy in relation to their opponents - such as online poker. Hence, lotteries, online slot machines, betting exchanges and casino games involving playing the bank (blackjack and roulette for example) will be excluded from the opening as they are considered too addictive.
A new independent public authority, ARJEL (Games Regulations Authority) will be set up specifically to regulate the remote gambling market, responsible for:
· Ensuring compliance with policy objectives regarding internet accessible games.
· Suggesting to government specific requirements for different types of licences available.
· Preparing and attributing online gambling operator licence requests.
· Monitoring online operations and clamping down on illegal gambling sites and fraud.
ARJEL will be empowered to block access to such websites through a direct injunction to Internet Service Providers and block such financial transactions.
· Enacting auditing rules concerning technical and financial data for each transaction.
· Making suggestions to Government on legislative and regulatory issues.
· All operators shall be required to provide information and guarantees as to their identification, gambling experience, shareholding, measures taken to prevent fraud and money laundering, secure online payment and protection of data and minors.
· Licences will be granted to operators within Member States of the EU or ECC. Any of these whose headquarters or shareholders are based in so called non co-operative tax havens shall be refused licences to offer their services in France.
· Online gambling internet websites must be accessible through a first level domain name ending in ".fr".
· A mirror server, based in France, shall contain all data relative to gambling activities and exchanges between players and operators.
· Licences shall be granted for five-year renewable periods and shall be non-transferable.
· The tax rate will be based on amounts wagered by players, according to the following:
8.5% - Sports betting
15.5% - Horse race betting
2% - Online poker
Such taxation based purely on wagers rather than gaming gross revenue is less well suited in the case of poker operators for example, for whom 2% tax on wagers would equate to taxing approximately 60% of gross revenue. This could put operators off entering the market, as well as go against EU regulations of freedom to provide services. However on the whole, France should remain attractive despite the proposed tax regime that might be an obstacle to foreign online gambling operators seeking to enter the French market.
With the implementation of the Draft French Gaming Law, the ARJEL will need a further few months to be efficient and begin granting licenses. According to Senior Government Officials, France will not start granting online betting licenses at the beginning of 2010 as initially thought. Partly as a result of the detailed opinion of the Commission rendered on June 8th, 2009, the Draft French Gaming Law will most likely not be implemented as from January 1st, 2010. In any event, it should be in place for the kick-off of the World Football Cup in South Africa at the latest.

The Truth About Online Gambling and Credit Cards

The credit card companies lobbied for laws governing online gambling with credit cards, although one would think that people would be the ones hesitant to their credit or debit cards online.
The main reason behind the shift in laws is that too many people have made it a habit to create debt that they cannot repay. Lawsuits have pardoned the debt, paid lawyer fees in full and left credit histories untouched. This is good for the people in debt, but bad for the credit card companies who end up losing a lot of money.
Response from Credit Card Companies
Charge card companies have decided to exact stricter regulations regarding credit balances by amending the terms and conditions surrounding receiving a card. Now you find higher interest rates incurred for particular transactions, so hopefully the user thinks twice before creating debt in certain ways.
Avoiding Financial Difficulty
Many people struggle with gambling addiction and online gambling with charge cards make it easier to spend large amounts of money than when gambling at a land-based casino. Many land-based casinos even advise players to leave their cards at home, so that they are not tempted to spend more than they can afford. Visiting online casinos makes this discipline even harder because generally you access these games from home. It is best that you then have someone you trust take responsibility of your credit and debit card while you play so that you do not end up making rash decisions regarding your money.
What Does the Law Say?
Some countries and states have designated areas where gambling is legal and those where it is not. This means that you could easily be breaking the law when pursuing online gambling with credit and debit cards. Online gambling is already illegal in the United States of America and this has led to interesting convictions in courts whereby credit card companies are being persecuted for allowing the activity to take place instead of the player for gambling online.
No More PayPal
You can no longer use PayPal as a direct payment option for online gambling and the majority of accredited online gambling sites have removed any mention of PayPal. This means that players do not have the option of transferring money from their MasterCard or Visa to PayPal accounts in order to gamble online.
Credit institutions each have their own policies regarding online gambling with credit cards and it is best that you familiarize yourself with those that apply to you and your credit card company. American Express, for instance, offers credit services managed independently from other banking institutions, while MasterCard and Visa is affiliated with many different banks around the world.
If you still want to use your credit card for online gambling, some casinos have developed a method that bypasses PayPal and the credit card bans against online casinos. Simply put, you use your credit or debit card to buy a "gift card". You then use the gift card in the online casino, and MasterCard, Visa or other card company sees a purchase for a gift card.
